Authorities have received complaints about spam text messages claiming the recipient's debit or credit card has been compromised or suspended.
They then ask for verification via text or phone in order to reactivate the card.
Deputies say the messages do not identify a specific financial institution, but some have used the word "credit union."
Please be cautious, as legitimate institutions will never ask for personal information via text or email.
If you have been a victim of this scam, we ask that you contact your financial institution immediately.
