Welcome back from the pandemic! After years (yes, years) of hunkering down and riding it out, we welcome the opportunity to fully focus on our mission of “Financially Empowering Central Iowa.” Our staff has a renewed energy and enthusiasm for meeting you where you are financially and providing advice, education, and products or services to improve or maintain your financial wellness. We are again back in our communities throwing our shoulder into helping with the causes that make our communities vibrant and sustainable.
We are full of energy; however, we realize that our facilities suggest we are anything but! We’ve decided to do something about that!
MEMBERS1st will be undergoing a refresh over the next couple of years. We admit this is long past due and never more needed. The Board of Directors has authorized the funds to refresh each of our facilities.
In the case of Marshalltown, our hometown, we have something slightly more ambitious in mind. Something BIG is happening…
We are proud to announce plans to construct a 10,000-square-foot full-service branch and administrative facility on West Anson Street, adjacent to the new Fareway store. Thanks to this community’s support, we’ve outgrown our current Marshalltown spaces on Center Street and 12th Avenue.
Marshalltown is in the midst of a fantastic effort to rebuild and renew the community after being hard hit by a tornado in 2018 and a derecho in 2020. MEMBERS1st is excited to be part of this important mission. The new location will be a center not only for financial services, but also for community gatherings and financial education for all Marshalltown residents.
The building will utilize state-of the-art technologies to deliver in-person banking services including biometric access to safe deposit boxes and Interactive Teller Machines (ITMs) for self-service or assisted cash services. The upstairs administrative center will enable the credit union to expand its phone, digital, and video banking services to all members, including offering expanded support for its Spanish-speaking members. Additional gathering space will be utilized for lunch-and-learn events and classes related to consumer topics and financial wellness.
MEMBERS1st Community Credit Union has a rich history in central Iowa. Through a series of mergers with other “home-grown” credit unions, our service area has expanded to include 14 central-Iowa counties with branches in Traer, Ames, Iowa Falls, Eldora, Boone and Marshalltown. In 2019, we opened our newest branch inside the JBS plant in Marshalltown to offer on-site financial services and education to the workforce of one of the community’s largest employers. Recognizing the unique needs of Marshalltown, we have begun an in-depth process to assess and address the specific needs of our Hispanic community, to ensure that we’re doing the best job possible of serving all of our neighbors.
Our commitment to serving each of our communities remains strong, and we look forward to welcoming you into the new Marshalltown branch in the fall of 2023.
