When donating with LifeServe Blood Center, your donation stays within the community.
LifeServe is the sole blood provider to 98 hospitals in Iowa.
Registered donors is down 8% over the last 10 years.
To ensure a safe, available blood supply, there is a need to increase the number of first-time donors.
If a person lives to age 72, there is a 90% chance they will have a need for blood or blood products.
Less than 10% of the eligible U.S. population donates annually.
Fifteen tests (eleven for infectious diseases) are performed on each unit of donated blood.
Healthy people who are at least 16 years old and weigh at least 120 pounds are eligible to donate whole blood.
